time on those who look to learn something from it all and look in   vain�察�

cutting them off from wholesome occupations and even teaching what is 

bad。 I cannot then but blame them for certain large offences��4�А�more than

that    while    full   of   far´fetched     phraseology�撮�5�А     �of   solid    wholesome

the citizens。 They have both a battle to wage certainly�此�only the one set are 

for attacking beasts�察�and the other their own friends。��24�А�And naturally the 

assailant of his own friends does not win the   general esteem�撮�25�А �whilst 

the huntsman in attacking a wild beast may win renown。 If successful in 

his capture�察�he was won a victory over a hostile brood�察�or failing�察�in the 

first   place�察  �it   is   a   feather   in   his   cap   that   his   attempt   is   made   against 

enemies      of  the   whole    community�察     �and   secondly�察    �that  it  is  not  to  the 

detriment of man nor for love of gain that the field is taken�察�and thirdly�察�as 

the outcome of the very attempt�察�the hunter is improved in many respects�察�

and all the wiser�此�by what means we will explain。 Were it not for the very 

excess of his   pains�察�his well´reasoned devices�察�his manifold precautions�察�

he   would   never   capture   the   quarry   at   all�察  �since   the   antagonists   he   deals 

with are doing battle for bare life and in their native haunts�撮�26�А�and are 

consequently in great force。 So that if he fails to overmatch the beasts by a 

zest for toil transcending theirs and plentiful intelligence�察�the huntsman's 

labours are in vain。
